GREG WALTON
With
all the terms that critics keep inventing to categorize music and
the many musicians ready to jump on the latest bandwagon, it is
refreshing to find artists who stick to their roots and remain
true to who they are musically as well as personally. Greg Walton
is just such an artist. Greg Walton makes good old American
heartland rock music. He really can't help it. Greg is a product
of that heartland and his styles and lyrics reflect those roots.
Greg's family history also holds that he is a relative of George
Marshall Walton, one of the original signers of the Declaration of
Independence. This unique lineage has given Greg an interest in
history and helped fuel the love for God and country, which is so
much reflected in his music. A product of the Midwest, Greg also
has a fondness for the straight-ahead, no-nonsense rock created by
such artists as John Mellencamp, Tom Petty and Geoff Moore. Listen
to songs like "Say What Ya Mean", "Good Night John
Boy" or "Leanin' On" from Greg's latest release,
"Stealing Moment"". The project was recorded in
Chicago with the help of Beach Boy Brian Wilson's production team.
Greg
has shared the stage with some of the top CCM as well as country
artists in the world. He has performed in over 200 concerts in
America, Canada and Europe, entertaining and encouraging nearly a
quarter of a million people. During that time he has appeared in
concert with such names as George Jones, T. Graham Brown and Mark
Collie, as well as numerous CCM artists from Newsboys to Polarboy,
with whom he toured for over a year. Just a few years ago Greg was
a high school music teacher helping to shape the lives of
teenagers from the projects of suburban Chicago. His genuine care
and concern for young people and the boldness of his convictions
even earned him the respect of many of the school's hardened gang
members.
Greg
Walton is now on the road as a solo artist and with his own band,
a team of musicians carefully selected not only for their musical
prowess, but also for their own willingness to stand up and share
the message of hope which can only be found in Jesus Christ. While
Greg continues to spend a great deal of time in ministry to youth,
he also performs often in churches sharing contemporary and
traditional praise music and leading worship. Greg's ministry
moves well beyond the musical realm as he shares the Word in
concert and through the Bible study workshops taken from his
lyrics. Greg recently moved his family to the Nashville area in
order to work closely with his manager, music veteran Greg Menza.
Menza's career includes a long list of credits from work with some
of the most popular artists in rock music, current and past. Some
of those artists include such legends as Dion and Carole King and
CCM trendsetters dc Talk and Newsboys.
