LYNN
GEYER

With
God, nothing is impossible. It was on August 13, 1989 that Lynn
Geyer saw with her own eyes the hand of God lift the spirit of her
dad from his body. The miraculous moment revealed God’s absolute
presence and all the years of rebellion and agnosticism instantly
disappeared. She began attending church where music filled the air
and was different from anything she’d heard in the church of her
childhood, even though this was the church of her childhood, St.
Mary’s in Mt. Vernon, New York. Her "new" church was a
charismatic contemporary celebration with the entire congregation
participating and singing along. Inspired and always moved by this
"new" music, she joined the choir, seeing God touch and
change people through His melodies. Evangelizing through the music
of the Charismatic Renewal as well as the rich traditional hymns
of the "old" church became a way of life and over time
developed into music ministry.
Highlights
along the way include being a member of the original music
planning committee for "Young New York ‘94" under the
direction of the late, great John Michael Caprio, and performing
during this two day outdoor youth festival attended by 20,000
teens. An invitation to sing in Atlanta at Christ the King
Cathedral for Life Teen offered a double blessing: to minister to
teens and to enjoy the summer Olympics! She was among the group to
sing at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City for Cardinal
John O’Connor’s 50th Anniversary of Ordination. For three
years she traveled to Cape May, New Jersey to sing for the young
recruits of the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center. In January of
1998, she was on "Good Day, N.Y." representing the New
York State Right to Life Committee in a round table discussion
concerning the effect of Roe vs. Wade on society. She performed in
concert sponsored by international broadcasting company, Radio
Maria, hosting Marian Devotee, Christina Plancher, at Fordham
University. The greatest of all these gifts remains her selection
as a member of the mass choir assembled for the Liturgy celebrated
by Pope John Paul II on the Great Lawn in Central Park, New York
City.
In
July 2000, Lynn performed at David 2000, an annual youth festival
in Spain and also was part of an international group of musicians
and event planners discussing contemporary music in the church
today. These discussions took place over four days via
simultaneous translations, were documented and sent by the Bishop
of Soria to the Vatican for review. In August 2000, Lynn was
included as a performer during World Youth Day in Rome, singing as
part of Word Entertainment’s "American Stage" set up
in the Piazza De Popola. She was nominated as "Artist of the
Year" by the United Catholic Music and Video Association in
the first annual Unity Awards.
Lynn
was the music director for Life Teen at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Church in Scarsdale, New York, for two years and continues as a
parishioner of St. Mary’s in Mt. Vernon. For the last 6 years
Lynn has been a professional member of the Gospel Music
Association and BMI, holds memberships with the Christian Country
Music Association (CCMA), and the United Catholic Music and Video
Association (UCMVA). Her ministry, ColorBlindMusic handles public
relations and promotions for various Catholic artists and programs.
She
is the Director of Public Relations for the Catholic Association
of Musicians (CAM), founded by John Michael Talbot for the purpose
of providing spiritual, artistic and economic guidance to
contemporary Catholic musicians. In this capacity, Lynn
coordinates activities of CAM regions throughout the USA, and
works with other artists coordinating and participating in
conferences across the country, to share the Good News through
music.
