The experience of life can often be told in word or song. That’s the musical philosophy of Italian Christian artist Maurizio Melis, born in October, 1963, in Cagliari, Italy. During his childhood he spent much of his time at his parish, St. Anna’s, as an altar boy. But as a teenager Maurizio stepped away from the faith of his childhood and began to experience the highs and lows of life without God. Eventually he came to his senses and realized that "only with God does life have a purpose" ("Solo con Te, la vita ha un perché"). This phrase became a motto of sorts for him, and he began to see that his every action should be done in service to the family of God which is the Church. His gift for playing the guitar and singing, as well as the example of Italian Christian artist Fabrizio De André, led Maurizio to discover a new way of expressing his faith by praising the Lord and thanking Him for all the blessings He continuously showers upon all mankind. During His journey on the Earth Christ taught us that everyone must learn to give of himself in service to his neighbor. Maurizio put this teaching to music in his latest album, "L’Esperienza" (The Experience). Maurizio is a firm believer in the role of music in the New Evangelization, especially for youth, who face so many challenges and obstacles to living out their faith. Unpretentious and honest, Maurizio often shares personal testimonies and spiritual insights in between songs during his concerts.
