NICK ALEXANDER

Nick Alexander is the top Catholic parodyist working today. He takes standard secular pop songs, and rewrites them so that they are devoutly Catholic and laugh-out-loud funny. His release, "A Time to Laugh," works as one of the lightest, most engaging evangelistic tools for Catholics ever made. People are attracted to the humor, regardless of their religious upbringing. And after the jokes have passed, the message sticks with the listener.

How did this happen?

Nick Alexander is a convert to Catholicism, and a dynamic worship leader for many diverse Christian groups. Nick had occasionally written parody songs to sharpen his own songwriting skills. He would sing these songs every so often, when the opportunity arose. But Nick had never taken this side of his music seriously... he always saw it as a stepping stone for his "serious" works.

Then, last year went to a Catholic Association of Musicians conference. It was after-hours at a Pizza Hut that Nick was handed a guitar and pushed to play his silly songs. The crowd was stunned with delight. Nobody had ever attempted what Nick had done before: a perfect blend of orthodoxy with humor. It was through the unanimous prompting of his peers that Nick felt encouraged to pursue an all-comedy recording.

One year after that event, Nick has released his first all-comedy CD. It contains ten parody songs and one serious praise/worship song. The songs range from the Sixties (i.e, "I Got You Saved") to the Nineties ("Tradition (500 Years)").

The CD is completely orthodox and very, very funny. It is perfect for CCD classes, for parties, and even for R.C.I.A.! It is also perfect for evangelism.

Nick Alexander resides in Fairfield, CT and is engaged. He leads worship at the Diocese of Bridgeport's Catholic Charismatic Prayer Meetings, in addition to his work with his home church's contemporary mass. He is a dynamic speaker with an earthy demeanor and strong convictions.
