SARA
TORRES

Sara
began to write songs at 17 and has participated in many festivals
organized by the Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Miami. In
1987, Sara had the privilege to become part of the group of young
people that sang Las Mañanitas to Pope John Paul II during his
visit to Miami.
In
1989, she joined a group of young musicians, parishioners of Saint
Catherine of Sienna. Together they formed the band ROKKA. Alberto
Coppo, who was the band leader, is the arranger of Sara's album,
Pensando en Tí. During its two years of existence, Rokka
participated in many fund raising events for different Christian
missions within the Archdiocese of Miami, especially the
evangelical missions of the Claritian sisters.
The
band was promoted by several well known Catholic religious leaders,
among them, Father Ricardo Castellanos, who through the Ministry
Verbo y Vida helped Rokka with its first and only production,
Proyecto I. Also, they found support in Father Federico Capdepón,
who invited them to be part of his television program featured on
Univisión, En Busca de la Felicidad (In Search of Happiness).
It
has been ten years since Rokka's disappearance. Now Sara has
decided to continue delivering her message of hope and love for
God as a soloist.
