A VOICE FOR A
NEW HOPE … Roberto Bignoli
The first video of the most known voice in the world of
contemporary music of Christian inspiration has come out in these
days in all catholic libraries. A long interview and many pieces
amongst the most famous of his vast repertoire reveal the human
and spiritual richness of an artist who has come to faith through
an absolutely particular path.
"Una luce risplende nel mondo" - a light shines over the
world: who has never happened, at least once in his life, to hear
these words on the radio? They are taken from the well known
"Ballata per Maria" ("Ballad for Mary"-
translated also into Spanish) that has been marking and
identifying Radio Maria frequencies for over than ten years.
Roberto Bignoli is the composer of this piece as well as of many
others that are part of a vast and appreciated repertoire, such as
the most famous song that has gone around the whole world
"Concerto a Sarajevo" ("Concert in Sarajevo"),
dedicated to the children of Bosnia. But after more than 8 CD and
about 20 compilations (some of them are international!) Roberto
Bignoli is now releasing for his public a video that represents,
as the journalist and writer Carlo Climati says to present the
book, a real "journey to the discovery of one of most beloved
and esteemed Christian artists, now become the symbol of
commitment and constant engagement to get over daily troubles and
pains. Roberto Bignoli's art is an invitation to look up and
discover every day again and again the joy of the gift of life in
a world that every day more and more needs to fly again. Winner of
two Unity Awards 2001 (the Oscar of international contemporary
Christian music) as the best Christian artist of the year and for
his song "Ho bisogno di te" ("I need you")
taken from his latest multimedia CD, Bignoli in his video tells of
his conversion as follows: "I found myself in a very
difficult situation of my life, in a moment of emptiness and
darkness and I needed a miracle. Not the miracle of a recovery of
the body but that of the soul. Therefore, I went to see what was
going on in Medjugorie and I lived this experience in simplicity.
I must say now that this miracle has happily come to be part of my
life, and I perfectly realize that when I happen to tell of my
story, not all people understand and agree. But that is not
important.. What is really important is that my life has changed
and that I feel all right now…" The video, produced by
Pater TV International and distributed by Audiovideo Messaggero di
Padona in all libraries, lasts 37 minutes and contains complete
videoclips of "Ballad for Mary", "Concert in
Sarajevo" dedicated to the children of Bosnia as well as to
Mons. Tonino Bello; "I need you", winner of the "Unity
Award 2001" prize for international contemporary Christian
music section in Washington DC. Roberto is now preparing for a
long tour that will see him in Poland, Bulgaria, Holland. In July
he is going to be in Canada for some concerts in preparation of
the Toronto GmG and will then end by October in Central and Latin
America.
