Palasport Don Bosco, Schio (VI), Italy

The San Massimiliano Maria Kolbe Association, Schio, which runs RADIO KOLBE SAT, a satellite radio station, is organizing for the fifth year running an international concert of Christian music, “The World Sings of Mary”, at 8.30 p.m. on Friday 30 April 2004 at the Palasport Don Bosco, Schio (VI).
This event has become a firm date in the world of Catholic music, and has been enriched over the years by the presence of acclaimed artistes from different parts of the world. Many national and local newspapers have shown particular interest in the concert. This year’s concert features six artistes, of whom four are Italian and two “international”.

Don Giosy Cento, whose participation is eagerly awaited, is a famous name in the development of Christian music in Italy, as well as being founder of the Association “Il mio Dio canta giovane”. This year he will have reached the 25th year of an exemplary career of evangelization through music, with over 1000 songs and 2500 concerts throughout Italy and Europe to his credit.

The evening’s international guest artist will be Cheryl Porter, American by birth but Italian by adoption, an exceptional vocalist, famous for her Gospel and Spiritual interpretations, and for having sung alongside artistes of world renown.

Don Paolo Spoladore, from Padua, is a well known and esteemed singer and song writer, who, , along with his inseparable band, has shared his ministry with young people through the medium of Christian music in numerous concerts in this country and throughout Europe. Some of his songs have become veritable Eucharistic hymns and are his most striking testimony.

This year, too, the appearance of a young up-and-coming artiste is planned. Representing this category will be Mariano Dotto, a Salesian from Padua, who recently made his name with the public following the launch of a CD entitled “Distanti”, the proceeds from which will go to support  a Salesian missionary project in Brazil.

Paolo Migani, from Rome, married with two children, has for many years given testimony to his faith through music. He already has a number of musical offerings to his credit. At the festival he will present several of his best known tracks, with guitar accompaniment.

From Los Angeles, for her first appearance in Italy, comes Gretchen Harris, who with her splendid voice will introduce her meditative and spiritual type of music to the public.

Presenters of the concert will, this year also, be Piergiorgio Bussani, from Liguria, assisted by Radio Kolbe announcer Anna Maria Pozza, of Schio.

Admission to the Palasport is free.

Radio Kolbe SAT will transmit the whole concert live in audio and video on internet throughout the world. On the occasion of the concert a new CD compilation will be available,

The World Sings of Mary”, produced by Edizioni Amici di Maria Regina dell’Amore. This CD brings together 16 tracks by the same number of artistes, selected from those who have appeared in the last four years at this musical event.
