PORTICO

Recipients of the 2002 Unity Award for 'International Album of the Year' Portico is a Catholic Contemporary Rock Band based in Sydney Australia and was founded by Gospel musician/songwriter Vince Pace. Originally Portico came together for a Youth Mass back in 1997 and evolved out of joyful feedback. Vince and his friends were inspired and moved by the way God touched and changed people through this 'Contemporary Music. After the first Mass the band never looked back.
In the beginning Vince arranged traditional hymns into a more contemporary style and a year later Portico began to include original songs, which were borne from personal and other peoples spiritual journey. The songs contemplate and celebrate the Holy Gospels.
In 1998 Vince entered a song contest 'A Song For Peace In The World' an international song contest included entries from 124 countries, the song 'Reign Down Peace' was recorded with just voice and piano. The song was chosen by the international jury to be performed at the forthcoming Peace Concert in Rome. < www.songcollections.com/peace
