EVAN
SCHOOMBIE

Evan
Schoombie, well known in South Africa, began his career in the
professional theatre. He started his career at the age of eight.
At the age of twelve he had his first Presidential Command
performance and a year later his own television programme. Theatre
followed naturally.
The works he has performed include the song cycles of French
writer Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf. He became best known for his
renditions of the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, singing the
material of Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Evita and Joseph in the
major compilation productions of this material in South Africa and
abroad. As a nationally known performer, Evan hosted various
international tours, showcasing South African culture in Europe
and the East. A highlight of his career was the gala performance,
as soloist, with the writer of Evita, Joseph and His Amazing
Technicolour Dream Coat and Chess, Tim Rice. Propelled into the
top shows, performing live to audiences of up to 25 000 people,
Evan had it made to be top of the show business hill. At the
height of his career the Lord called Evan out of the secular
theatre into the ministry. He ran a contemporary Christian theatre
group which often produced Gospel events in the theatrical
heartland of his country.
Evan released his debut album YOUVE GOT A FRIEND in 1994, which
has now been released in 6 countries around the world. His Italian
version of the album, IL TUO GRANDE AMORE, was released with great
success in Italy in 1995. This was followed by the international
release of A TIME FOR HEALING and the Italian version, PIU` IN LA`
VEDRAI.
A series of live worship albums followed, notably FREE TO PRAISE
and most recently YOUR GREAT LOVE. The latter album is the fruit
of Evans ministry in praise and worship which has taken him all
over the world. The album was recorded live at the Hatfield
Christian Church. Evans band from Italy and South Africa played on
the album and it is produced by Tim Alicino.
Evan regularly teaches on the subject Theatre, the Arts and the
Church in various countries around the world. These include
national seminars in Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, The
United Kingdom and Italy.
A remarkable conference was held Malaysia where 80 churches were
represented. He heads up the team of young and dynamic teachers
who are all well versed in their fields and who all love to serve
the Lord Jesus Christ and His Body. The conferences generally
culminate in great worship celebrations involving the local and
visiting talent. All Good Gifts latest project is the series of
Free To praise Conferences in Italy and South Africa. A total of 4
national conference tours and worship celebrations brought a fresh
outpouring of the Holy Spirit in these nations. Evan is committed
to taking the project to the nations.
Evan also taught at the School of Psalmody of Tom Inglis on the
subject of Production and the Prophetic relevance of the Arts in
the Church and the secular environment. Evan Schoombie is an
accredited Television producer, producing programmes for most of
the national broadcasting networks in his country. He also
produces various corporate videos and lectures in film study to
many of the people in the media ministry, equipping them to use
the recognized media to see Gods Kingdom come in
every sphere of society.
As President of All Good Gifts International, Evan recognizes the
importance of strong links with the local Body of Christ and as
such his ministry is affiliated to Hatfield Christian Church in
Pretoria, pastored by his friend Pastor Francois van Niekerk.
